I just finished a design for a goodness advocacy group. Here are some sketches and process drawings. I started with an initial sketch on paper with pencil. Scanned it in digitally and refined it in Photoshop CS6. Great fun!

Bringing a veggie blog to life with Motion Graphics!
Here is a short animatic for a vegetarian/vegan blog called Food Himmel by a couple in Berlin, Germany. The blog really wants to capture the fun and excitement of being a child in the kitchen while cleverly integrating health and spiritual well-being in food!
This is an animated banner for the introduction to their blog. Plenty more fun and colorful animations coming soon! Illustrated in Photoshop CS6 and animated in After Effects.

Green Living Matrix: Web design and Emotion

Green Living Matrix is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to connecting the ecological communities, transition towns, and organic farms in many regions of the world. The idea began in Hungary in 2011 and has plans to expand outwards across Europe. This site will offer opportunities for those involved to educate and share their knowledge and resources. Project themes include Bio-intensive/permaculture, renewable energy solutions, and sustainable building design. In these three main themes are a chance to dive deeper into sustainability on a technical and social level; with instructables, tutorials, forums, discussions, and wikis. There is also a live projects update according to region and a gallery showing the many affiliates to the Green Living Matrix.
This is a test layout done in photoshop and illustrator. Also, there are many animatable elements that will be done in flash. There will also be a global map depicting the communities, towns, and farms that function according to the sustainability principles of GLM.
In this post I discuss the basic process of planning and design for a website of this nature. There are many aspects to this and it can be overwhelming and complicated so this blog will mainly focus on effective design and communication of website intent/purpose.

| Inspiration images are important for inspirational design |
This was the only image that GLM gave me for the site. They said that this is the "emotion" they want with the website and that all the colors and shapes accurately display the GLM image. So I went with it...and this is what came out!
First, before sketching anything out in paper we made a brainstorming session about the content and direction of the site. We discussed user interface possibilities, user experience functionality, and overall navigation of the site. Here is a table to help show us the how and why.

And then, it was time to refine the layout sketch and design the specific functions. Button and icon animations, UI, UX, and easy content access was the most important at this stage. This sketch lead to the final drawing in photoshop and illustrator that you see at the beginning of this post.
Update: This was a great start to the project but unfortunately was canceled due to financial reasons. Unfortunately, ideas like this, which include freeing humanity from tedious and monotonous labor, constant money acquisition, and the wasteful/destructive consuming culture we live in today, are not adequately encouraged or supported in todays society. One day this project will take form in a completely different way without established guidelines, restrictions, or company logos. Take care to all direct and indirect participants of this project.

Flowsee.com : Layout and Logo Designs for Berlin Start-ups (with progress)
Hello All!
Been
hard at work doing logos for layouts and playing with color, brand id,
and animation. Decided to post some work of my progress throughout this
project.
The goal of this project was to utilize the company name in a creative and appealing way. Also, to prepare the brand id for expansion and growth! There were many ideas on how to use the letters of the logo but the best path we saw was to utilize the two "ee"s in the word flows-'ee'. The two letters look similar to half-open eyes and could be animated or show expression for commercial advertisements or animated banners in the future.

| Presentation is key! |
I found that one way to help sell your concept is by presenting it in multiple ways. For example, I took this photo of my computer screen with the logos being displayed. The picture above helps show a different perspective; in this case, the perspective of the user behind the screen. Definitely appealing and sexy, don't you think? I wish I had a macro lens so that I can get a close up of the pixels! That would be really great I think!

| Color and branding id |
Here is some more color and brand id work. This is to offer a feeling to the client going through an identity crisis haha. It helps to see color to activate certain emotions with graphics. Purple is very enlivening and energetic! The dark maroon is more aggressive and stern. The green is more lively and fun! Can you feel it?!

| Formating and utilization |
Nearing the end of the project here and it is time to finalize and materialize! Depending on what the graphic or logo will be used for. in this case web layout, it is important to consider different formats. These three logos will be used for main page, advertisement, and browser tab labeling respectively.

Cohesiveness in design is very important. This means that all the elements; color, contrast, mood, and layout, must work harmoniously together. So if you have wavey-ness in your logo it is best to have wavey-ness in your layout design. If you have lots of purples on your website then it is best to have purples on advertisements too...and to not deviate from the identity's theme. Here is an example of how what I mean. This layout has a lot of black and white in it...very smooth and clean feeling. The straightness and curves of the logo are combined with straightness and curves on the profile page which really help with cohesiveness in this design.

Long forgotten Illustrations Revised
I decided to look through some old incomplete illustrations and play with them, experiment with mood and tone a bit, and finalize some details. These are a collection of the illustrations done this week.

Cardboardia Concept Art in Photoshop

There will be many meals prepared here for children and mature adults of Cardboardia. This space is also intended as an empty canvas for children to paint; preferably fruit and vegetable creatures, free and happy dancing animals, hearts, and smiles.

Finished Strawbale Dome Model with Instructable to come!
Hello!
The model for the building has been completed. There will be a separate model for the roofing later on when we have worked out the materials and such.
What you are seeing is the straw bale construction with the straw clay plaster filler (indicated as red).
I would also like to do an Instrucable for this complete with pictures of the actual construction, drawings, and animations. This project could end up on Kickstarter so that we can build multiple versions of these structures in the future. So far the costs to build such a house have remained under the 500EU budget. So we will see how things go as time goes on.
